ELEC 225, Fall 2009
Prof. Rich Kozick

Homework 6

Date Assigned: Wednesday, September 30, 2009
Date Due: Wednesday, October 7, 2009

  1. Lab: We will have Lab 3 on Thursday, October 1. Please try to begin the analysis and PSpice activities before the lab session on October 1. A lab report will be due on Friday, October 9.

The next lab will be on October 15 (no lab on October 8).

  2. Reading: In the Nilsson/Riedel text, please continue to study Chapter 4, Sections 4.1-4.4 (node-voltage method), 4.5-4.8 (mesh-current method), and Sections 4.9-4.11 (Thevenin and Norton equivalent circuits).

Chapter 4 is titled "Techniques of Circuit Analysis," and the material is the core of ELEC 225 and 226. You will have a chance to solve a lot of problems in Chapter 4 in order to learn the material! These are the basic circuit analysis tools that we will use throughout the year.

  3. An optional session for help with solving simultaneous equations with your calculator will be held as follows:
Monday, October 5, 7-8 PM in Dana 305.

A document is posted on Blackboard under Course Materials with tips for using the TI-89 to solve EE problems.

  4. Please solve the following problems, and submit solutions on Wednesday, October 7.
    Chapter 4: Problems 14, 18(a), 22, 27, and 29.

You should follow the step-by-step instructions for the node-voltage method as you solve these problems.

  5. Please see Homework 7 if you would like to start working on the problems as you study Chapter 4. You should start early on the problems and see me if you have questions.
Thank you.
