ELEC 320, Fall 2007
Prof. Rich Kozick

Homework 1

Date Assigned: Wednesday, August 22, 2007
Date Due: Week of August 27, 2007

  1. Bookmark the course web page at
    http://www.linux.bucknell.edu/~kozick/elec32007

  2. Please review your texts and notes from ELEC 120 and ELEC 225-226. In particular, review the concepts of phasors and impedance for circuits that contain capacitors, inductors, and resistors. Also review operational amplifiers and "frequency response" of filters.

  3. Please review Sections B.1-B.3 in the Lathi text on complex numbers and sketching signals.

In case you did not purchase the textbook yet, you can find pages 1-22 of the textbook on the course web page under Class Notes.

  4. You may want to use the Laboratory 1 assignment to guide your review. Begin thinking about how you will design the low-pass, high-pass, and band-pass filters specified on the Laboratory 1 assignment. Note that there are many different circuits that can satisfy the design specifications. Take your time, ask plenty of questions, and strive to improve your understanding of the fundamental concepts that are used in Laboratory 1.

  5. Please bring to class on Monday, August 27 a list of the exam dates from your other courses (ELEC 350 and ENGR 240). I will do my best to schedule the ELEC 320 exams to avoid conflicts.
Thank you.
